[목회서신] 모자람의 문제가 기적을 창조하는 재료입니다! | The Problem of Lack is the Material for Creating Miracles!

모국 집회를 마치고 제가 사랑하고 존귀히 여기는 새생명비전교회로 돌아왔습니다. 교회에 돌아와 보니 저를 기다리고 있는 문제가 있었습니다. 재융자의 문제입니다. 우리에게 융자를 해 준 은행에서 재융자를 위해 백만 불을 다운페이(down payment)해야 한다는 것입니다. 우리에게 그동안 융자를 해 준 은행은 우리 교회의 건축을 도와준 고마운 은행입니다. 또한 건강한 경영철학을 가지고 경영하는 좋은 은행입니다. 저는 재융자를 위해 갑자기 한 달 안에 백만 불을 모금하기 위해 기도하고 있습니다. 제 목회 여정에서 마지막 넘어야 할 산이 아닌가 생각해 봅니다.

어떤 분은 제게 백만 불을 큰 산처럼 생각하느냐고 말하는 분이 있을 것입니다. 물론 저는 더 높은 산도 넘고 넘었습니다. 더 힘든 장애물도 여러 번 극복하며 여기까지 왔습니다. 하지만 인생이란 언제나 자신이 현재 직면한 문제가 가장 크게 느껴지는 것입니다. 그래서 제게는 지금 직면한 문제가 크게 느껴지는 것입니다.

아직도 시차 적응이 안 되어서인지 밤에 몇 번씩 깨곤 합니다. 오늘은 아주 이른 새벽에 깨어 요한복음 2장의 가나혼인잔치 사건을 묵상했습니다. 포도주가 모자란 문제 때문에 예수님의 기적을 경험한 사건입니다. 결혼 잔칫집에 포도주가 떨어진 것은 심각한 문제입니다. 놀라운 역설은 바로 포도주가 떨어진 문제 때문에 예수님의 첫 번째 기적이 가나에서 일어난 것입니다(요 2:11). 모든 문제가 기적이 되는 것이 아닙니다. 어떤 문제는 우리 인생을 아주 힘들게 만듭니다. 그렇다면 어떻게 문제를 기적을 창조하는 재료로 만들 수 있을까요?

첫째, 기도로 반응할 때 문제가 기적이 됩니다. 예수님의 어머니 마리아가 예수님께 문제를 알려 드렸습니다. “포도주가 떨어진지라 예수의 어머니가 예수에게 이르되 저들에게 포도주가 없다 하니”(요 2:3). 예수님의 어머니는 문제를 인식했습니다. 문제를 인정했습니다. 현실을 부인하지 않았습니다. 거기서 머물지 않고 문제를 예수님께 아뢴 것입니다. 문제를 예수님께 알려 드리는 것이 기도입니다.

둘째, 예수님을 통해 문제가 기적이 됩니다. 문제가 생기면 아무에게나 찾아가면 안 됩니다. 문제를 해결할 수 있는 능력과 지혜와 자원을 가진 분을 찾아가야 합니다. 예수님은 전능하신 하나님이십니다. 지혜와 지식이 충만한 분이십니다. 예수님은 그 당시 사람들이 예상치 못한 방법과 사람들을 통해 기적을 창조하셨습니다. 예수님이 역사하시면 문제는 기적이 됩니다. 예수님이 우리 문제를 붙잡는 순간, 우리 문제는 기적의 재료가 됩니다.

예수님을 통해 우리는 문제 해결의 지혜를 배울 수 있습니다. 예수님은 문제 해결책을 가까이서 찾으셨습니다. 우리는 문제가 생기면 그 해결책을 멀리서 찾으려고 합니다. 하지만 하나님은 문제 속에 해결책의 씨앗을 담아 두십니다. 하나님은 문제 해결책을 가까이에 두십니다. 예수님은 가까이에 있는 돌 항아리 여섯 개를 통해 기적을 창조하셨습니다. 예수님은 가까이에 있는 물을 통해 기적을 창조하셨습니다. 예수님은 가까이에 있는 하인들을 통해 기적을 창조하셨습니다. 하나님은 가까이에 있는 사람들을 통해 기적을 창조하십니다. 그래서 우리는 가까이에 있는 사람들을 소중히 여겨야 합니다. 우리가 이미 알고 있는 사람들을 소중히 여겨야 합니다.

셋째, 예수님의 말씀에 순종할 때 문제가 기적이 됩니다. 예수님의 어머니가 하인들에게 부탁한 것은 순종이었습니다. “그의 어머니가 하인들에게 이르되 너희에게 무슨 말씀을 하시든지 그대로 하라 하니라”(요 2:5). 하인들은 예수님이 말씀하시는 대로 순종했습니다. 말없이 순종했습니다. 즉시 순종했습니다. 끝까지 순종했습니다. 그들은 예수님의 말씀이 이해가 되어 순종한 것이 아니라 예수님의 말씀을 따라 순종한 것입니다. 순종은 기적을 낳습니다. 순종은 좋은 결과를 낳습니다. 순종하는 사람에게 기적이 따라다닙니다.

넷째, 문제가 변장된 축복임을 믿을 때 문제가 기적이 됩니다. 우리는 문제를 좋아하지 않습니다. 하지만 문제가 우리에게 유익이 될 수 있습니다. 변장된 축복이 될 수 있습니다. 우리는 문제 때문에 기도하게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 겸손해집니다. 문제 때문에 긴장하게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 지혜를 구하게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 믿음이 성장하게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 그동안 보지 못했던 것을 보게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 지극히 평범한 것들 속에 무한한 잠재력이 담겨 있다는 것을 알게 됩니다. 문제 때문에 새로운 자원을 발견하게 됩니다. 예수님이 기적을 위해 발견한 자원들을 보십시오. 빈 돌 항아리 여섯 개, 물, 하인들입니다. 하인들은 인적 자원에 해당합니다. 문제 때문에 믿음이 성장합니다.

하나님이 기적을 창조하시는 방법은 다양합니다. 문제마다 다른 방법을 사용하십니다. 우리가 먼저 할 일은 기도하는 것입니다. 또한 기도와 함께 우리가 할 수 있는 일이 있다면 최선을 다해야 합니다. 지금 직면한 문제를 잘 해결하는 것이 우리 교회 비전을 다음 세대에 까지 전수하는데 도움이 됩니다. 성도님들의 기도와 협력에 감사드립니다.

The Problem of Lack is the Material for Creating Miracles!

I have returned to the beloved New Life Vision Church that I dearly cherish, after completing the ministry in the motherland. Upon returning, I was faced with a problem waiting for me: the issue of refinancing. The bank that has provided us loans is now asking for a million dollars as a down payment for refinancing. This bank has been a generous supporter of our church’s construction and is known for its sound management philosophy. I am currently praying to raise a million dollars within a month for this refinancing. I wonder if this is the final mountain I must overcome in my ministry journey.

Some might ask me, how could you think of a million dollars as a great mountain? Of course, I have climbed higher mountains and overcome more challenging obstacles along the way. But life is such that the problem you currently face always seems the biggest. That’s why this current issue feels so significant to me.

I'm still not adjusted to the time zone, waking up several times at night. This morning, very early, I woke up and meditated on the wedding at Cana in John 2. It's an event where a lack of wine led to Jesus' miracle. The absence of wine at a wedding feast was a serious problem. The amazing paradox is that it was precisely this problem of running out of wine that led to Jesus' first miracle in Cana (John 2:11). Not every problem becomes a miracle. Some problems make our lives very difficult. Then, how can we turn problems into materials for creating miracles?

First, when we respond with prayer, problems can become miracles. Mary, the mother of Jesus, reported the problem to Jesus, saying, “They have no more wine” (John 2:3). Mary recognized the problem. She acknowledged it. She did not deny reality. Instead, she presented the problem to Jesus. Bringing a problem to Jesus is prayer.

Second, through Jesus, problems can become miracles. When a problem arises, you shouldn’t just go to anyone. You must go to someone who has the power, wisdom, and resources to solve it. Jesus is the Almighty God, filled with wisdom and knowledge. He created miracles through unexpected means and people at that time. When Jesus takes hold of our problems, they become the material for miracles.

Through Jesus, we can learn the wisdom of solving problems. Jesus looked for solutions close at hand. We often look for solutions far away when faced with problems. However, God plants the seeds of solutions within the problem. God places the solutions close at hand. Jesus created miracles using six stone jars nearby, using the water nearby, and through the servants nearby. God creates miracles through people close to us. Therefore, we should value those around us. We must cherish those we already know.

Third, when we obey Jesus' words, problems can become miracles. Mary, the mother of Jesus, instructed the servants, “Do whatever he tells you” (John 2:5). The servants obeyed Jesus' instructions exactly. They obeyed silently. They obeyed immediately. They obeyed completely. They didn’t obey because they understood Jesus’ words; they obeyed because they followed Jesus' words. Obedience leads to miracles. Obedience brings good outcomes. Miracles follow those who obey.

Fourth, when we believe that the problem is a disguised blessing, problems can become miracles. We do not like problems. However, problems can be beneficial to us. They can be disguised blessings. Problems make us pray. Problems make us humble. Problems make us tense. Problems make us seek wisdom. Problems help our faith to grow. Problems allow us to see things we hadn’t seen before. Problems reveal that ordinary things contain immense potential. Problems help us discover new resources. Look at the resources Jesus used for a miracle: six empty stone jars, water, and the servants. The servants represent human resources. Problems help our faith grow.

God's ways of creating miracles are diverse. He uses different methods for each problem. Our first task is to pray. Also, if there is something else we can do along with praying, we must do our best. Successfully resolving the problem we currently face will help pass on our church's vision to the next generation. I am thankful for the prayers and cooperation of all the saints.
