[목회서신] 좋은 생각을 통해 복된 미래를 창조하는 지혜 | Wisdom in Creating a Blessed Future Through Positive Thinking

그리스도인은 “태초에 말씀이 있었다.”라는 사실을 압니다. 요한복음은 다음과 같이 시작합니다. “태초에 말씀이 계시니라”(요 1:1상). 사도 요한이 선포한 “말씀”은 “예수 그리스도”이십니다. 예수님이 말씀이십니다. 예수님은 말씀으로 천지를 창조하셨습니다(히 11:3). 또한 지금도 말씀으로 창조의 일을 계속하고 계십니다. 예수님의 말씀이 선포될 때 기적이 나타납니다(요 11:43-44). 귀신이 떠나가고 병이 낫습니다(마 8:16). 풍랑이 잔잔케 됩니다(막 4:39).

말씀은 능력입니다. 말씀은 살아 역사하는 권능입니다. 하나님은 말씀으로 죽은 자를 살리시고 없는 것을 있는 것처럼 부르십니다(롬 4:17). “빛이 있으라 하시니 빛이 창조되었습니다”(창 1:3하). 말씀은 창조력입니다. 말씀은 치유력입니다. 말씀은 소생력입니다. 말씀은 변화력입니다. 말씀은 영향력입니다. 말씀은 감화력입니다. 말씀은 살아 역사하는 동력입니다. 하나님이 말씀하시면 그 말씀이 열매를 맺습니다. “내 입에서 나가는 말도 ... 나의 기뻐하는 뜻을 이루며 내가 보낸 일에 형통함이니라”(사 55:11).

제가 말씀의 능력을 강조하는 까닭은 언어의 능력을 강조하고 싶기 때문입니다. 하나님의 형상을 따라 지음 받은 인간에게 하나님이 주신 선물은 언어의 능력입니다. 성경은 사람이 하는 말이 얼마나 큰 능력이 있는지를 가르쳐 줍니다. “사람은 입에서 나오는 열매로 말미암아 배부르게 되나니 곧 그의 입술에서 나는 것으로 말미암아 만족하게 되느니라 죽고 사는 것이 혀의 힘에 달렸나니 혀를 쓰기 좋아하는 자는 혀의 열매를 먹으리라”(잠 18:20-21). 죽고 사는 것이 우리가 하는 말에 달려 있습니다. 그렇다면 우리는 말을 할 때마다 신중해야 합니다. 우리가 하는 말은 결과를 낳습니다.

제가 말씀의 능력을 강조하는 까닭은 생각의 능력을 강조하고 싶기 때문입니다. 조금 깊이 숙고해 보면 하나님이 태초에 말씀하실 때 그냥 말씀하지 않으셨다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 하나님은 말씀하시기 전에 깊이 생각하셨습니다. 하나님의 생각이 먼저 있고, 그 생각이 말씀으로 나타났습니다. 그리고 하나님의 말씀이 모든 만물을 창조했습니다. 말씀의 뿌리는 생각에 있습니다. 우리 인생은 말대로 될 뿐 아니라 우리가 생각하는 대로 됩니다. 문제는 좋은 생각, 긍정적인 생각, 믿음의 생각, 가능한 생각을 하기보다는 나쁜 생각, 부정적인 생각, 불행을 자초하는 생각을 하는데 있습니다.

하나님은 천지를 창조하시기 전에 먼저 생각하셨습니다. 하나님의 생각 속에 천지창조의 그림이 먼저 담겨 있었습니다. 하나님의 생각 속에 창조하실 작품의 색상과 모양과 형태와 크기가 담겨 있었습니다. 하나님은 디자이너이십니다. 아담과 하와에게 가죽옷을 지어 입히셨습니다(창 3:21). 하나님은 패션 디자이너이십니다. 하나님의 생각 속에 미래가 담겨 있습니다. 하나님의 생각이 하나님의 꿈입니다. 하나님의 생각 속에 상상력과 창의력이 담겨 있습니다. 생각 속에 기발한 아이디어가 담겨 있습니다. 하나님이 인간에게 생각하는 능력을 선물해 주셨습니다. 인간은 생각을 통해 과학과 의학과 문명을 발전시켰습니다. 생각을 통해 예술을 발전시켰습니다.

문제는 많은 사람들이 생각 없이 살아가는 데 있습니다. 검색하는 사람은 많지만 사색하는 사람은 적습니다. 생각하는 법을 배우고, 생각을 단련하는 법을 배우면 우리 인생은 풍성해집니다. 생각의 근육을 키우면 문제를 더욱 잘 해결하게 됩니다. 잘 생각하는 지혜 속에 사건을 잘 해석하는 법이 담겨 있습니다. 사건에 잘 반응하는 법이 담겨 있습니다. 사람들은 문제 해결책을 생각하기보다 문제 도피책을 원합니다. 사람들은 생각하는 일을 제일 싫어합니다. 그래서 생각하지 않게 만들어주는 유튜브를 좋아하고 쇼츠를 즐깁니다.

제가 생각을 잘하는 지혜를 배우기까지는 정말 오랜 세월이 걸렸습니다. 지금도 계속 배우는 중입니다. 생각을 잘하기 위해서는 좋은 생각, 긍정적인 생각, 창조적인 생각, 풍부한 생각이 얼마나 중요한가를 먼저 깨달아야 합니다. 곧 생각은 결과를 낳는다는 사실을 깨달아야 합니다. 나쁜 생각을 하면 나쁜 결과를, 좋은 생각을 하면 좋은 결과를 낳습니다. 생각의 차이가 인생의 차이를 만들어냅니다. 생각이 변화되면 인생이 변화됩니다. 생각이 변화되면 관계가 변화됩니다. 생각의 능력을 아는 사람은 생각을 단련합니다. 생각하는 것도 기술입니다. 예술입니다.

좋은 생각을 하는 길은 좋은 생각을 할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하는 것입니다. 그것이 독서입니다. 독서는 우리 생각에 자극을 줍니다. 성경을 읽고, 좋은 책을 읽을 때 좋은 생각과 나쁜 생각을 분별할 수 있습니다. 우리가 경험하는 것처럼 하루에도 수많은 생각들이 우리를 찾아옵니다. 어떤 나쁜 생각은 마귀가 뿌리고 갑니다. 또한 우리가 보고 들은 것이 우리 생각에 영향을 끼칩니다. 우리가 만나는 사람들이 우리 생각에 영향을 끼칩니다. 좋은 생각을 선택할 수 있는 다른 시스템은 글쓰기입니다. 글쓰기를 통해 생각은 명료해집니다. 지속적인 독서와 글쓰기를 통해 우리는 모든 생각을 사로잡아 그리스도에게 복종시킬 수 있습니다(고후 10:5). 좋은 생각과 좋은 언어를 통해 아름다운 관계와 풍성한 미래를 창조하시길 빕니다.

Wisdom in Creating a Blessed Future Through Positive Thinking

Christians know that "In the beginning was the Word." The Gospel of John starts with, "In the beginning was the Word" (John 1:1). The "Word" proclaimed by Apostle John is "Jesus Christ." Jesus is the Word. Moreover, Jesus created the heavens and the earth through the Word (Hebrews 11:3) and continues the work of creation through the Word. When Jesus' words are proclaimed, miracles happen (John 11:43-44). Demons flee and illnesses are healed (Matthew 8:16). Storms are calmed (Mark 4:39).

The Word is power. The Word is a living and active force. God brings the dead to life and calls into existence things that were not, through His Word (Romans 4:17). "God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light" (Genesis 1:3). The Word is creative power. The Word is healing power. The Word is reviving power. The Word is transforming power. The Word is influential. The Word is inspiring. The Word is a dynamic force. When God speaks, His words bear fruit. "So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11).

I emphasize the power of the Word because I want to highlight the power of language. The ability to use language is a gift God has given to humans, created in His image. The Bible teaches us how powerful the words spoken by a person can be. "From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:20-21). Life and death depend on the words we speak. Therefore, we must be careful every time we speak. Our words produce results.

I emphasize the power of the Word because I want to highlight the power of thought. On deeper reflection, it is evident that God did not just speak at the beginning; He thought deeply before He spoke. God's thoughts came first, and those thoughts were expressed as the Word. Then God's Word created all things. The root of the Word is in thought. Our lives are shaped not only by what we say but also by what we think. The problem lies in harboring bad thoughts, negative thoughts, faithless thoughts, and thoughts of impossibility, rather than good thoughts, positive thoughts, thoughts of faith, and thoughts of possibility.

God thought before He created the heavens and the earth. The blueprint for creation was already present in God's thoughts. God's thoughts contained the colors, shapes, forms, and sizes of His creations. God is a designer. He made garments of skin for Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:21). God is a fashion designer. The future is contained in God's thoughts. God's thoughts are God's dreams. God's thoughts are filled with imagination and creativity. Brilliant ideas are contained in thoughts. God has gifted humans with the ability to think. Humans have advanced science, medicine, and civilization through thought. Thought has also advanced art.

The problem is that many people live without thinking. There are many who search, but few who reflect. Learning how to think and how to train our thoughts can enrich our lives. Developing the muscle of thought helps us solve problems more effectively. The wisdom to think well contains the ability to interpret events well and respond well to them. People often seek escapism rather than solutions to problems. People generally dislike thinking. That’s why they enjoy YouTube and shorts that prevent them from thinking.

It took me a long time to learn the wisdom of thinking well, and I am still learning. To think well, one must first realize how important it is to have good, positive, creative, and rich thoughts. Soon one must realize that thoughts lead to outcomes. Bad thoughts yield bad results, good thoughts yield good results. The difference in thoughts makes a difference in life. When thoughts change, life changes. When thoughts change, relationships change. Those who understand the power of thought train their thoughts. Thinking is also a skill. It is an art.

The way to think positively is to build a system that allows for good thoughts. That is reading. Reading stimulates our thoughts. When we read the Bible and good books, we can distinguish between good and bad thoughts. As we experience daily, numerous thoughts come to us. Some bad thoughts are sown by the devil. What we see and hear also influences our thoughts. The people we meet affect our thoughts. Another system that allows us to choose good thoughts is writing. Writing clarifies thoughts. Through continuous reading and writing, we can take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). I pray that through good thoughts and good words, you create beautiful relationships and a prosperous future.
